About your tutor
PhD-qualified, AFHEA-certified, and over 10 years of tutoring experience.
Hi, I'm Femke. I hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), and I have been tutoring Maths and Physics for more than 10 years — from GCSE foundations to A-Level exam preparation and university-level problem sets.
Alongside tutoring, I design technical training at a UK national research institute, where my day job is making genuinely difficult scientific content clear and accessible. That is exactly what I bring to lessons: I explain the why behind each method, break problems into steps, and build the confidence to tackle exam questions independently.
I am DBS checked, 5-star rated on Tutorful, and I teach students across the UK online.
What parents and students say
Reviews from families we've worked with.
"Femke is a good mentor, who takes the time and effort to support other students. She has the ability to explain complex information in simple terms for everyone to understand. She is able to guide students on a subject and provides recommendations on where to find information for further reading and understanding. She has the patience to go over work with others if they do no understand the subject area and is confident in her area of expertise."
